Overheated...

On our way back from Rock Springs Cafe on Saturday we were about 20min away from home on the I-10 when Mindi's car all of a sudden started overheating & stalled.  Luckily she made it to the side of the freeway.  I text Darin & Chris to let them know what was going on.  Darin had our daughter Ruth & the neighbor girl with him, so I told him to go ahead & take Tyra home, then come back to help us, but he just brought her back with them because home was too far out of the way & would have taken that much longer to deal with the situation.  So I kept he mother updated by text.  We ended up getting the car towed to Cams Automotive & Performance, off Buckeye & 40th Street.

This morning Mindi heard from Cams & and they wanted to charge her $1100 to remove & rebuild the head in order to fix the compression.  He also said he had no idea why it was overheating, which didn't sound very professional, to either of us.  He should at least have a few ideas.  She posted her delima on Facebook & several friends went about trying to help her, find someone she could trust that would give her a reasonable price.  A few of her friends on FB said that price seemed pretty high.  So her day has been filled with phone calls while I researched what a Uhaul Car dolly would cost & other possible mechanics.

Rock Spring's Cafe

Several weeks ago Darin was watching one of those shows on TV about great diners.  They showed Rock Spring’s Cafe, they are famous for their pie’s.

Darin said “We Definitely need to go there!  I mentioned it to my friend Mindi, who also got excited about going and so we planned to go together with our 2 families.

So yesterday after getting some other morning things out of the way.  We headed out.  I rode with Mindi in her car, we took my daughter Ruth & a neighbor friend Tyra.  Darin drove our truck with Chris (Mindi's husband) their son Riley & our son Evan.

We left from QT close to 12:30pm and it did take around an hour to get there, arrived around 1:35pm.  We only had to wait 10 minutes to get seated.  The food was good, not great or spectacular, but good.  Prices were about what you'd find in a nice restaurant here.  Our waiter didn't know how to smile.  Maybe just an off day.  He messed up our drinks and took forever to get them to us.  We asked for a kids menu, which he also took forever to bring to us.  So it goes to say it took forever before we were able to even order.  So since he was so confused with our drinks, we all were afraid when he came to take our orders and he didn't write anything down for any of the 8 orders.  But when food came luckily everything was right.  But i needed mayo & i wanted to change my drink (I didn't like the taste of the lemonade), so once again it took quite awhile to flag him down.  So everyone was almost done eating before I even got started.  But on a good note, it was nice sitting and visiting with friends & enjoying the music & atmosphere.  Darin said he didn't like the feel of it been to touristy, but i loved it.

Both families wanted to take a whole pie home so after eating lunch, we decided each of us would try different slices, we tried 7 different kinds.

Darin & Mindi both got the Tennessee Lemon Pie (We all three loved it), I tried the Peach Crumb Pie (it was ok, generally Peach is my favorite, when done right, but this one seemed not cooked all the way), Evan had the Continental Mixed Berry Crumb Pie (which he loved, I didn't like the gritty texture of whatever berries were in it), Ruth tried the Cherry Crumb Pie (she liked it, I loved it, one of the best cherry pies I've ever had), Tyra tried the Chocolate Cream Pie (Ruth loved it, Tyra thought it was good but too chocolaty, lol), Chris tried the Coconut Cream Pie (he said he loved it), Riley tried the Blackberry Crumb Pie (he liked it, he gave me & Mindi a nibble we both liked it too).

We would have liked to try a few of the other flavors too but that would have been even more pricey.  Each family spent $16 just on slices of pie, talk about crazy people, huh.

It was a pretty neat place, established in 1918, they had several little shops inside & outside & craft booths outside, which we looked at after eating.  We bought Evan a Scorpion encased in glass & a really cool looking Frog made out of brown & green jade looking material, I cant remember what the man said it was called.  We bought Ruth a turquoise necklace & a little metal dragon that sat on a turquoise rock holding a marble in its back claws & holding a little white rock in its front claws.  It was cool.

We didn’t leave until around 4:15pm, which means we were there for close to 3 hours.  Just the walking around after eating was killing me.  My ankle & feet were hurting pretty bad.  Was so happy to finally get in car & sit down.  It was a very long day, especially since i got to bed a little late & had to get up early to take my nephews home.  I was so happy to finally get home at 7pm (that's another story, should have been closer to 5pm)

Anyways it was fun & nice to get out of town & visit somewhere new.  I enjoyed the experience despite the little mishaps in the restaurant & the big mishap on the way home.

Hubby Made Me Cry

When my bedroom door is open you can see the couch in the living room.  Last night my husband was sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV.  While I was sitting on my bed working on the computer.  I was also watching "Andy Griffith" :).  I sat working for quite awhile, when i realized, that Darin was leaning over the arm of the couch,...watching me, with the sweetest smile on his face.  I asked if he had been looking at me for awhile and he said "Yes, I love looking at my beautiful wife"  and continued to stare at me with that smile.  I couldn't help but tear up.  Everyday I feel so beyond blessed to be married to him.  He shows me regularly that he genuinely loves me & that he genuinely loves being with me!  What more could I ever ask for.

Sign-ups

I'm working on some sign-up sheets for church, for an activity we have coming up at the end of March.  I love doing things on the computer.  Its a passion of mine.  It would be awesome if I could have a job from home, doing things on the computer, what heaven that would be!
